Whoa, it's been too long

Oh dear, I've neglected the blog. Well, I'm back on the wagon, and hopefully I'll continue to update more regularly.

Here are some 7 1/2 month stats for Mr. Bubba:

Tooth count: 2
Height: 30 inches
Weight: unknown, but guessing about 18-19 lbs.
Talents: can crawl (WHAT??!?!), sit well, pull up, and pick up small objects
Eating: everything!! Loves banana, sweet potatoes, applesauce, peas. He also enjoys bbq chicken, chicken noodle soup, chili, and pretty much anything mommy gives him off her plate.

Liam has figured out how to pull up in his crib from a hands and knees position and stand in there until we come get him. I'm so thankful he's not strong enough/tall enough to pull himself over his crib rails... because I think he would if he could!

Pictures to come, but right now Liam's whining in his crib because he wants his momma!

Happy half birthday!

6 months old!! Where did the last half of a year go??!? Seriously.

We go to Dr. B for Liam's checkup on Friday, so we'll get the stats then. He can officially roll over both ways, sit up on his own (at least for a little bit), Gets on his hands and knees, and LOVES bath time now- he learned that he can splash REALLY BIG!

The past week or two Liam has learned the hard way that mommy and daddy are no longer going to rock him to sleep every time he needs to go to bed or take a nap. Lots of screaming at first, but now Liam rarely screams for more than a minute, and usually passes out within 10 minutes of us putting him down. We're getting there. And this momma realizes that she should have done this a loooooooooooooong time ago.

Now our bubba likes to sleep on his tummy. He gets mad if we put him in his crib any other way. And he will let you know that he's NOT happy that HE has to roll over to the correct position!

I think that's about it for now... how about some cute Liam pictures?

Holiday Mania!

Well, it's finally over. Ahhhhhhh. So happy that the hectic present buying, traveling, multi-Christmas celebration is done. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Christmas. It's just exhausting! Here are a few things that made it considerably more exhausting this year:

1. a 5 month old. Enough said.
2. both Daddy and I came down with a cold. While traveling to Katy to visit his parents. With a 5 month old.
3. a 5 month old.

Haha. Anyway, we did have a lot of fun, and SO HAPPY that Daddy was able to have a solid 2 weeks off work to play and hang out with Bubba and me! I was very sad to say goodbye to him on his first day back at work, but I knew it was coming eventually.

Liam has started to do major push ups that indicate he's getting ready to crawl... getting those knees under him is the tricky part. He's getting close though! He's also doing very well sitting up by himself- a little wobbly, but in time that will get better. Right now he's in love with the stackable cups Aunt Camei and Uncle Matt got for him for Christmas.

His giggles are infectious, and he laughs so hard when I tickle his tummy! Last night Daddy and I were hanging with him on our bed, and I flipped the pages of my book really fast close to Bubba's face: he thought it was THE funniest thing ever. Easily entertained :) If he could only stay that way...

Last time we checked, Liam was 17 pounds. No telling how long he is. But he's now fitting into 9 month clothing comfortably. And he's not even 6 months!

Chompers, holidays, and visitors

Liam will be 5 months old tomorrow. Woohoo! He's such a big boy :)

This morning a top front tooth made its appearance and is struggling downward to the end result of Liam having a toothy grin for Christmas. :D I bet he looks pretty darn cute that way! Finally, some progress in the midst of all this teething!

Daddy and I went and got a few special presents for our little bubba. Should be fun watching him explore them and see what they're all about!

Gigi, Papaw, and crew are coming into town today to have a visit before all the holiday madness. Should be a good time, and I'm sure lots of Liam grins and giggles will be made!

Rollin rollin rollin...

November 16th. Good day to roll, wouldn't you say? Well, Liam thought so! Playing on his playmat on his back, he decided to lift his legs up to his hands, grab his toes, and roll to his side. He looked at a toy that was in his line of sight, and thought, "I can grab that!". So he rolled the rest of the way over! I praised him, and he giggled, then rolled back to his back. Hooray! Way to go, Liam.

In other news, Liam had his 4 month checkup at the doctor yesterday with Dr. B. He now weighs a whopping 15 1/2 pounds, and is an amazingly tall 26 1/4 inches long! He's as tall as an average 6 month old. He also got praises for his development, and we got the go ahead to start him on rice cereal.

We started said cereal this morning, and it did not go as planned... he spit out most of it, and after about 5-10 minutes of introducing it to him, he'd had enough. I can't blame the little guy- he's had a rough few days (got shots at the doc, and wasn't pleased).

The bonus for this week is that daddy is taking tomorrow off, so Mr. Liam has 5 days of playtime with him!! Woohoo! We're going to have a wonderful time hosting Thanksgiving this year at our house with family. :) Liam's first Thanksgiving!! I can't believe it.

Playdate!

Liam and I had our first official playdate with 4 other sweet moms and their kiddos. Liam was amazed by the other little people around him, and tired himself out watching them play and trying to communicate with them :)

I am so blessed to have other moms that can relate to me. I have been longing for such a relationship, and I've found it! And to see their kids and what Liam will be in 10 months, 16 months... it is so fun!

Liam has been bridging when on his back, letting me know that he's practicing to roll over from back to front. And he almost rolled from his stomach to his back last night! Daddy was home playing with him while I went to run an errand. When I came back, I got to hear the story about Liam's almost first roll- so cool. Daddy helped him all the way over, and Liam gave him an expression that said, "did I just do that?!?".

I wonder what the weekend will bring?...

Happy Halloween!

15 weeks today, and as feisty as ever. Liam is going through an "it's my party, and I'll cry if I want to" phase. Every night for the past week as been screaming bloody murder right before bed. I think he's either overtired, or overstimulated during the day. Hopefully we'll get this figured out soon. Last night was better- we put him to bed earlier, and he woke up twice. If he only would sleep through the night...

This past weekend, Gigi and Papaw came up from Katy to visit. Liam had a grand time getting held 24/7 and getting to play with his grandparents. He was quite festive in several Halloween outfits and enjoyed outings to Southlake Town Center and the Hall Pumpkin Farm down the road.

Liam cut another tooth, making the total right now 4. FOUR!! I can't believe it. He's starting to sit up when I have him on my legs reclining, and is SO close to rolling over from his back to his belly. He's looking like he might roll from his belly to his back soon too. I can't wait for that to happen! One thing he really likes is his bouncy saucer- lots of movement, lots of things to play with, and one happy baby :)
